The History of the Ball

The Dallas Margarita Society started when a bunch of guys got together to throw a party…the rest is history.

The start

The Dallas Margarita Society (DMS) was conceived in the spring of 1977 when a small group of business men decided to throw a party, invite their friends and business associates!

The first Annual Margarita Festival and Ball was held at Northpark Inn on November 5th, 1977. There were 3,000 guests in attendance!

Not knowing exactly what was in store for the group, the Dallas Margarita Society became a 501-c(3) non-profit charitable organization in 1978. And in 1979, the Directors decided to target the At-Risk Children by asking all guests in attendance to bring a toy as a donation.

This was the beginning of the legacy that you enjoy today!

Over the Years

In 1988,

The Dallas Margarita Society hosted the First Annual Margarita Charity Golf Classic. Still swinging clubs, chipping shots, and putting away, the event stands as one of the most fun and entertaining golf events!

In 1989,

The Dallas Margarita Society entered a float into the St. Patty’s Day Parade. Today you can have fun with us and enjoy the Greenville Avenue festivities!

In 2001,

The Dallas Margarita Society introduced the First Annual Las Vegas style casino and Lounge! Dancing, Black Jack, Roulette, Craps, Shadow Box Dancers, DJ’s, … outstanding!

In 2002,

The Dallas Margarita Society hosted the First Annual Silent Auction during the Dallas Margarita Ball. Success! Today we present over 800 items of art, gift certificates, weekend getaways, and sports history in the Silent Auction!
